What is a manufactured home?
A manufactured home, also known as a mobile home, is a type of prefabricated housing that is built off-site in a factory and then transported to its final location. Manufactured homes are built to the standards set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and must meet certain requirements for construction, safety, and energy efficiency. They are often placed on leased land in mobile home parks or on private property with a permanent foundation.
A single-wide manufactured home is a factory-built home on a fixed chassis built after June 15, 1976. It is usually 18-feet wide or less.
A double-wide manufactured home is a factory-built home on a fixed chassis built after June, 15 1976. It is usually wider than 20 feet.
